We had a very busy weekend last weekend at our house. With graduations and family in from Florida family events took up most of our weekend. Which is why we decided to have Adelyn's dedication that Sunday. Family was already in town and we thought it would be perfect. We go to a very small and close knit church and so the service was very special to us. Pastor David also did our wedding and he is really like a 2nd father to me becasue his daughter and I have been friends since we were 5.
Adelyn did so great for the service. She really can be such a good baby. Her dress was a simple white smocked dress with flowers of different pastel colors. It was very old fashioned and just perfect in my opinion. I decided against a bonnet becasue she wore one for Easter and went for a headband instead.
Here is a picture of my sweet angel afterwards. Is she not the sweetest?
The ceremony was very sweet. We were called to the front and pastor David gave us a rose and Adelyn her first bible (it is pink!). He asked us about her name and we told him that her middle name Kathryn is after my grandma becasue she is the strongest most courageous person I know and I hope Adelyn has her strength and personality. Adelyn was just becasue we liked it and we wanted her to have her own name and identity to create. I was only sad because my grandmother was in the hospital and not able to be there even though she desperately wanted to. The pastor then prayed for Adelyn's protection and spiritual guidance. Afterwards we sang the song "He knows my Name." It was very appropriate and very moving.
After the service we went back to our house and had BBQ. Some of our family joined us. It really was a perfect afternoon. Here is our little family afterwards at home.
Dear Adelyn,
Today was a special day for us. We prayed for you and your protection and guideance, but most of all I prayed and still pray today that God will make me a role model for you. That you will be able to see the love of Christ through me and your father and that one day you will know that love on a personal level. We are so blessed to have you in our lives. You are our miricle from God and it is such a privalge to be your mother.
Love,
Mommy
