7 months

Dear Adelyn,

It is so hard to believe that you are already 7 months old. As I was carrying you to bed tonight I stopped to hug you before laying you down and I thought about how much you have grown. I do my best to soak up these little moments when I can becasue I know they go so fast.

This past month your personality has really started to show through. Boy you are a mess! Mostly you are happy. People tell me all the time how good you are. I have to agree you are super sweet and usually pretty agreeable. You sure make everyone melt with your smile, including your mommy. You do this thing where you smile and start kicking your feet and waving your arms when you see me especially when I come in the door from work. It is my absolute favorite part of the day.

You continue to love solid food. You are particularly interested in whatever we are eating as if you know you are being shorted somehow with the pureed stuff. Daddy gave you a bite of Popsicle the other day and it was all over. You pitched a fit for more and I mean a REAL fit. That is when we knew we were in trouble... I mean pitching fits at 7 months old? We are going to need lots of prayer when we hit 2! I am blaming it on the fact that the cold felt really good on your gums and not that you are spoiled already. I have also started putting you in your high chair and letting you puck up and feed yourself. You make such a mess, but you enjoy it. I mean look at that face who cares if most of it ends up in the floor?

Oh did I mention you are teething? Ok, ok I know we keep blaming your fussiness on "teething" but I am certain you are going to cut your first tooth any day now. At least you really need to so I can get my great baby back. You know the one that sleeps all the way though the night and is happy 99% of the time. Not the one that wakes up 3 times a night and is so fussy some days I have to call in back up. We even bought you a "teething" necklace just to try anything and everything. While I was skeptical I have to say I am kinda convinced it works, but more on that later.

This past month I have seen a lot of development. You are really starting to reach for things and you want to grasp anything and everything. Yes you are a hair puller now! You have started to enjoy toys more and even will play in the exersaucer for a while by yourself now. You also started to sit up last month, and are now a pro at it. You even prefer to be sitting up than laying on your back now. Your still  don't like your stomach too much, but I can see your getting a little more comfortable with it and I think it won't be long before your crawling. You even balanced on all four last night but didn't go anywhere.

You do this hilarious thing with your tongue. It makes me laugh each time. Its like you have just discovered it. I even got a pretty good picture of it.

Your daddy is convinced you have already said your first word dada. I will say that you can make the sounds dada but you do it all the time and call your toys dada me dada you say it when no one is around and when daddy is around. I still consider it babbling and think that when you realize it has meaning it is a word, but I think others would say I'm just jealous. (maybe I am just a little, but I am the one who carried you for nine months)

You make our lives so much richer and meaningful. I am so excited it is summer and I will get to spend all my time with you now. I am going to soak in every moment I can!
